Coupeville Elementary School Activities (Grades 1-5)

Garden Club members are students in grades 2 and 3 who desire time outdoors working in dirt! Interested volunteer parents and Coupeville Garden Club members support us in doing some very creative gardening activities. |
|
Geography Club
|
Students in grades 4 and 5 discover more about the world through preparing for the annual Geography Bee. Practices are held once each week after school. The Geography Bee competition is held in January.
|
|
Playground Conflict Mediator Program
|
Students in grades 4 and 5 are trained to help their peers solve conflicts peacefully on the playground.
|
| Science Club |
Students in grades 3-5 meet once a week to do science-related activities. |
|
Young Authors
|
Students in grades 2-5 may be nominated by their classroom teachers to participate in Young Authors. Students write and publish a book, sharing their final product mid-March.

Enrollment and Attendance
|
Enrollment at Coupeville Elementary School enrollment as of October 1, 2008 was 417 students.
Children of age 8 to 18 are required by law and by board policy 3110 to:
- attend a public school
- attend an approved private school
- receive approved home-based instruction.
Children who have reached age 5 as of midnight, August 31 of the year of entry may be enrolled as kindergarten students. Under special circumstances, the district does provide the opportunity to request early entrance if a child has not yet reached age 5. However, the request for early entrance consideration must be made no later than one week prior to the start of school.
The district also accepts request from nonresident parents to have their child enrolled in Coupeville schools. The decision to approve or deny the request is governed by board policy 3141.
To enroll, parents should bring the following information to the school:
- the student's immunization record;
- the student's birth certificate;
- the name and address of the student's previous school (if any) plus information about any special programs in which the student participated, and a copy of the student's last grade report;
- a copy of the written authorization to enroll in Coupeville if the student does not reside within the district boundaries.
All absences from school require written notification to the school.

The district contracts with InterPacific Management/Chartwells to provide a daily food service program for our students. Lunch is served and eaten in our multipurpose room. The daily menu offers several delectable options for young tastebuds.
Parents who meet income guidelines may request that their students participate in the free and reduced price meal program through the school.
Parents are welcome to provide input and help set our school's direction through our parent advisory council. The council membership and responsibilities are identified in school board policy 6010. Please contact principal Fran McCarthy if you would like to participate in council meetings.
