Library Mission

Our mission is to help foster a lifelong love of learning in every student. We strive to not only give every student access to information and ideas but to help students become the creators of information and new ideas. We accomplish this through teaching literacy skills, providing access to print and digital materials, and supporting classroom curriculum.

Library Rules

1. Use quiet voices at all times.

2. Take care of library materials.

Please keep books away from pets, little siblings, and snacks. And don't forget to keep them dry! If a book is damaged please see Ms. Shelly in the office to pay for a replacement.

3. Use your time wisely.

4. Follow Directions.

5. Be kind, considerate, and helpful!

The "One Good for You" rule:

For students 2nd-5th grade we have the "one good for you" reading book and one "just for fun" rule. This means that one of their selections can be any nonfiction or fiction book that fits their reading level, interest, and/or lexile but their other selection can be any story of their choosing such as comic strip books, I Spy, or books below their reading level. This allows students to explore their interests while also improving literacy skills.

Book Checkout
All Students: Books are to be returned every week in order to check out a new story. If your student has not finished their book, they can renew it up to five weeks. Books are not marked as overdue until they have been gone for 2 weeks, after 2 weeks a reminder slip is sent home. When a book has been over due for 4 weeks you will receive a note with cost of replacing the book. All lost or damaged books will need to be replaced. Payments of exact cash or check are accepted in the office.

Kindergarten and 1st grade: May have one book checked out.

2nd through 4th grade: May have two books checked out.

5th grade: May have three books checked out.
