O*Net Career Exploration
O*Net allows students to search for careers of potential interest and provides the following information and more!- Projected growth/need for each career
- Samples of daily tasks done by individuals actually working in each career
- The amount of education individuals actually working in each career have
- Annual salaries for each career available on both a national level and a state level
- The amount of education and training someone would generally need to enter each career of interest
The O*NET program is the nation’s primary source of occupational information, containing information on hundreds of standardized and occupation-specific descriptors. The database is continually updated by surveying a broad range of workers from each occupation.
The Occupational Information Network (O*NET) is being developed under the sponsorship of the US Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration (USDOL/ETA) through a grant to the North Carolina Department of Commerce. There is no cost to access the information.
