Here is a message from Mr. Rickner regarding our upcoming field day:
Dear Families,
Our students will be having field day this year!
Grades K-2 will have it on Monday, June 14th. Grades 3-5 will have it on Tuesday, June 15th.
Students will attend field day during the same session that they usually attend school (A.M. or P.M.) Online only students will be communicating with their teacher about when they attend.
On the day that your student has field day, please make sure that they wear athletic shoes and clothes, bring a hat and water bottle, and wear sunscreen.
In the past, we have had parent volunteers help out with the event, but this year we won't be able to do that. We will hopefully be able to bring in volunteers again starting next year!
Chad Rickner
Physical Education Teacher
5/25/21 (Material Distribution Update): This is just a reminder that Material Distribution has moved to Thursday, this week only, since we do not have school on Friday, May 28th. Distribution hours remain the same (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Have a great week!

2/19/21 Update from Principal Ebersole re: 3rd–5th Grade Return and Parking Lot Transition

Hello, Everybody!

As we enter the next stage of bringing our 3rd through 5th graders back to school we are asking all parents to be prepared for a couple of days of new parking lot transition as we drop off and pick up our students.

I have included a picture of the parking lot map again (also sent via email) so you can visualize the drop off and pick up zones. It will take all of us being patiently persistent as we add more families picking up and dropping off. Here are a couple of things that may help us out:

During Drop Off

Having your student prepared to exit your vehicle before you arrive in our parking lot (that means their coat, mask, and backpack are ready to go).

If you are a parent who only has a 4th or 5th grade student, it would be okay to travel up the inside lane to drop off your student near the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR). The 4th and 5th grade health screening area is by the Multi-Purpose Room.

During Pick Up

Arrive at a time that helps with the flow of the parking lot. What do I mean by this? Here are a couple of examples:

If you are a parent who only has a third grade student,
it would be helpful for you to arrive around 11:20, for the AM pick up time, or 3:20, for the PM pick up time, so you can get to the 3rd grade pick up zone, which is at the top of the parking lot. Otherwise, you may be behind parents who are picking up students in the kinder, 1st, or 2nd grade zones. If this happens, that’s okay, but it will take a few minutes longer for you to pick up your student.

Another example: If you are a parent who only has a kindergarten student, It would be helpful for the flow of the parking lot if you were to arrive around 11:30, for the AM pick up time, or 3:30, for the PM pick up time, as kindergarteners are excused last from the building. That way, you would not be holding up the flow of the line while waiting for your child to arrive.

We will learn a lot in the first week of what is working smoothly and what we may need to fine tune.
We ask that you please continue to proceed with caution as you travel through our parking lot. Stay patient, persist with us, and be prepared as we may need to make adjustments as we learn from our first week of having us all back at school.

Thanks, Everyone. We’ll see you Monday (February 22nd). Remember, together we can do this!

As shown on the map, there will be pick up zones designated as follows:

  • Single Student Family Riders - K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 pick up zones

  • Multi-Student Family Riders

Multi-Student Family Pick Up:

Please use the inside lane when traveling up the parking lot. You will travel past the crosswalk where you will have two access lanes on your left, one on each side of the pick up zone.

4th and 5th Single Student Pick Up:

Please use the inside lane when traveling up the parking lot. You will travel past the crosswalk then make a left turn to your designated pick up locations as indicated.

K, 1, 2, and 3, Single Student Pick Up:

Please use the outer lane closest to the fence line to travel up the parking lot.

11/2/2020 Update re: Progress Reports & Parent/Teacher Conferences

Hello, Coupeville Elementary School Families!

I hope this school year is going well for you and your student(s) thus far. I continue to be amazed by the perseverance you, your students, and our staff are showing. We know these times present unique challenges for many and we are here to support you as best as we can.

I'd like to share a few updates with you. The first is that the end of the first quarter has been moved to Friday, November 13th, from Friday, November 6th. Progress reports will be passed out at material distribution on Friday, November 20th.

In addition to this change, conferences will be held virtually this fall. Your student’s teacher(s) will contact you directly over the next few weeks to schedule. Conferences will take place November 23rd–December 11th. You are obviously a critical part of your student’s success and your participation in conferences is essential, so we hope to “see” you there.

Sincerely,

Dave Ebersole, CES Principal
