Coupeville School District is able to serve a wide variety of needs for our developmentally diverse students. Students need to be qualified for an IEP before they are eligible to receive Special Education (SPED) services. For more information contact Special Services Secretary, Teresa McClane.

Records Retention Procedures Notice

This is notification of Coupeville School District (CSD) destruction procedure per Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 392-172A-05235, "Each school district shall inform parents and adult students when personally identifiable information collected, maintained or used in compliance with this chapter is no longer needed to provide educational services to the student, or is no longer required to be retained under state or federal law."
Upon six (6) years from separation of special education services through the Coupeville School District (CSD), student's special education records will be destroyed. Examples of separation of services include, but are not limited to: graduation, no longer qualifying for services, revocation of services, or no longer living within the school district boundaries. CSD special education records of CSD students who have separated from the CSD Special Education department effective 12/31/2018 and prior will be destroyed as of December 5, 2025. The school years of 2019-2020 will be set for destruction August 31, 2026.
Records will not be released to parent/guardian if student is age 18 or older in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Questions regarding CSD special education records or requests for copies of student special education records must be made in writing and requires proof of identification with a photo ID.
